Creating a Website That Reflects Your Brand Personality
As a business owner, creating a website that reflects your brand personality is essential to attract and retain customers….
One of the best pieces of advice I ever received in relation to design? “There is someone out there, who’s after exactly what you have to offer”….and it’s always stayed with me!
Remember that your business; whether still a concept in your mind, up & running, or needing a revamp; and what you and your business have to offer is unique to you.
You want to feel proud of it and also reflect who you are….what you bring to your business!💡
Your website is often the first point of contact with your potential customers and it needs to make a lasting impression. So let’s discuss how to create a website that reflects your brand personality, and drive traffic to your website!
1. Identify your Brand Personality
As I mentioned, your business is unique! And I’m sure alot of hard work, passion, drive, and (maybe tears, lets be honest! They did with mine at least!😄) went into creating your very own brand - (or maybe it’s still a ‘work in progress’? Good on you!👏🍾)
And it’s everything you imagined it would be....or is it?
Before you start designing your website, you need to identify your ‘brand personality’……
Your brand personality is the set of human characteristics associated with your brand. It can be friendly, professional, quirky, or innovative, among others. Understanding your brand personality will help you choose the right color scheme, fonts, and design elements for your website.
2. Choose the Right Color Scheme
Color plays a crucial role in website design.
Different colors evoke different emotions and can convey different brand personalities.
For instance, blue is often associated with trust and professionalism (seen our site?😉), while red can represent excitement and energy.
Choose a color scheme that reflects your brand personality, and resonates with your target audience. (Check out this blog about color choices - Colors that Sell!)
3. Use the Right Fonts
Fonts are another critical design element that can help convey your brand personality.
Choose a font that’s easy to read and matches your brand personality.
For example, if your brand personality is modern and innovative, choose a Sans-Serif (‘foot’ less font😊) font like Helvetica.
If your brand personality is traditional and elegant, choose a Serif font (font with ‘feet’) like Times New Roman.
4. Incorporate Your Unique Brand Elements
Your brand elements unique to your business; such as your logo and tagline, should be prominently displayed on your website. Use these elements to reinforce your brand personality, and create a consistent brand image across all your marketing channels.
5. Write Engaging ‘Copy’
(What’s “Copy” I hear you ask!)
Copy is really just ‘all the writing across your website pages’😊 Your website copy should reflect your brand personality and engage your audience.
Use a tone that resonates with your target audience and highlights your brand personality. Avoid using technical jargon and try to keep your copy concise and to the point.
6. Optimize for Search Engines
And finally, optimizing your website for search engines is key to driving traffic to your website!
Your want to be appearing as high up in that Primo spot (yep, Page 1 of Google!) as you can.💁♀️
Use relevant keywords in your website copy and meta descriptions (think of it like how you would use hashtags, aka, ‘the most relevant keywords you add that you think will bring attention’💁♀️)
And make sure your website is mobile-friendly and easy for your visitors to navigate.
I hope this has helped show you how creating a website that reflects your brand’s identity, is necessary to attract, and retain customers.
So to recap; identify what your brand personality is, choose the right color scheme and fonts to convey this, incorporate your unique brand elements consistently, write engaging copy, and optimize it for search engines.
