Whether you're starting an online boutique, showcasing your photography, sharing your expert advice, or if you’re like me; sharing your creative side through your profile, Squarespace can help you create a professional website without the need for coding or design skills!
(# no coding needed….and thank goodness as I’m not an expert in it😊)
Step 1: Signing Up and Selecting a Template
To start, head to the Squarespace website and sign up for an account if you haven’t already (sounds obvious I know💁♀️). You can start with a free trial, which gives you access to most of Squarespace's features.
Once you're in, it's time to choose a template; this is one of my favorite parts….
Squarespace has so many beautiful templates to choose from, I feel I could spend ages browsing! But please don’t get stuck in ‘analysis paralysis’; just choose one and…go!🏁 You can always customize it later.
Remember, your template is the canvas for your website, so choose one that aligns with your business's style and personality🎨.
Step 2: Customizing Your Website
Now comes the fun part! Let’s make this template truly yours and customize your website to match your brand.….
Click on 'Site Styles' on the right and start exploring. Squarespace’s made it easy for you to change fonts, colors, and layouts (even recently with their latest updates); and add your logo to create a unique and personalized online presence.
Make sure that your website reflects your brand identity, as it's the first thing your potential clients will see. Don't be afraid to experiment until you find the perfect look🎨.
Step 3: Adding Content
What's a website without content, right?💁♀️
Squarespace makes it easy to create pages and add text, images, and videos. Click on the 'Pages' tab and start adding your text, images, and videos.
Ensure that your content’s engaging and informative, and remember to keep your target audience in mind. Speak directly to your ideal clients through your words and visuals.
Step 4: Optimizing for Mobile Devices
In today's world, the competition is increasing so it’s essential that your website looks great on mobile devices. And everyone’s on their phone browsing more than ever….be that on the go, on public transport, (and when they’re supposed to be working😁)
Luckily, Squarespace automatically optimizes your site for mobile viewing.
You just need to double-check it yourself and make any necessary adjustments to ensure everything looks perfect. (Please don’t skip this step! It’s the most important which I’ve thought to skip a few times, only to find that just one thing wasn’t aligned or there’s a lotta blank space.
Not good for a first; and often the only impression📲.)

Once you're happy with your website, it's time to connect your domain. Go to the 'Settings' tab, click on 'Domains', and follow the prompts.
If you don't have a domain yet, you can purchase one directly from Squarespace💁♀️.

Now, let's make sure your ideal clients can find you!🤗🙏. Squarespace provides many user-friendly tools for optimizing your site for search engines.
Make sure you sprinkle descriptive page titles, meta descriptions, and keywords relevant to your business throughout your site to increase your website's visibility in search results.
Step 7: Publishing Your Website
The moment has arrived!
I remember what that feeling felt like; as I sat at a tiny table (in an uber busy cafe on the weekend) that barely fit my laptop and coffee but I was determined! Today was the day to hit ‘Launch’. A moment you’ve work towards, put your heart into, sometimes for ages.
And once I saw….“Your site is now live!”, I felt something, and realized it was pure happiness, and pride (in a good way). That felt amazing and I wanted to hold onto that feeling knowing all the work that went into that moment…
Click on the 'Settings' tab, scroll down to 'Site Availability', and switch your site from 'Private' to 'Public'.
So congratulations!!👏🎉 Not everyone makes it this far but if you have, you’re different - you’re not a ‘dabbler’, you’re a do-er🏆💪
You've created your website, added your content, and optimized it for both desktop and mobile……
Now, click that magical "Publish" button and share your website with the world🌏💞.
